How to use this result

CGPA-to-percentage conversion is institution-specific. Formula presets on this page are conveniences, not universal academic rules. Official transcripts, admission forms and job applications should use the formula published by the relevant board, school, college or university.
Detailed CGPA guide

CGPA and percentage are related, but they are not automatically interchangeable.

CGPA summarizes academic performance on a grading-point scale. Percentage expresses performance on a 0–100 scale. A conversion requires a mapping rule, and that mapping can vary by institution.

Simple multiplier formula

Percentage = CGPA × Multiplier

Linear formula with an offset

Percentage = (CGPA − Offset) × Multiplier

Scale normalization

Percentage = CGPA ÷ Maximum CGPA × 100

Weighted cumulative GPA

Weighted CGPA = Σ(Semester GPA × Semester Credits) ÷ ΣCredits

Why a custom formula matters

Some universities publish a multiplier, an offset, a lookup table or a programme-specific rule. The custom linear option supports formulas of the form Percentage = A × CGPA + B.

What the calculator cannot decide

  • Which formula your institution officially recognizes
  • Whether failed, repeated or audit courses should be included
  • Whether credits use attempted or completed values
  • How grade corrections affect the final transcript
Frequently asked questions

CGPA conversion questions answered.

Is multiplying CGPA by 9.5 always correct?

No. It is one commonly used rule, but institutions may define a different multiplier, offset or conversion table.

Can I convert percentage back to CGPA?

Yes, when the selected formula is mathematically reversible. The calculator handles the reverse form of supported linear formulas.

How is weighted semester CGPA calculated?

Each semester GPA is multiplied by its credits. The total weighted points are divided by total credits.

Should I use the highest value from the comparison table?

No. The comparison exists to show how formulas differ. Use only the formula recognized by the relevant institution.
